Abstract
This study aimed to find the factors influencing the quality of life of the parents and educational officials of person with developmental disabilities. The subjects of this study were the parents of developmentally disabled persons at the age of 1-22 year old and the educational officials. Quality of life scale, behavior problem inventory, parenting stress index, and task exhaustion scale were measured. Pearson correlation and hierarchial multiple regression were carried out for statistical analyses. The result showed that the QOL for the parents could be predicted from three factors, the income of family, the problematic behaviors, and parenting stress. In case of the educational officials, the problematic behaviors and task exhaustion level significantly predict QOL. When the psychological factors, were added to the study model, the power of explanation became clearer. A direction of intervention program is proposed and the significance and limits of this study are discussed.
